Rubberising
Rubberising (Polyurethane Bakkie Linings) is a virtually indestructible polyurethane coating sprayed onto a surface under high pressure, which forms a protective barrier on the surface.
Rubberising can be applied onto any surface, including steel, aluminium, concrete and wood.
The most common application is bakkie linings, in which the load bin of a Light Delivery Vehicle (LDV or bakkie) is coated, and offers excellent protection against corrosion, abrasion and impact damage. It also acts as a barrier for water. |

The lining is slip resistant, which means it not only limits damage to the load bin, but also protects the cargo being transported. It’s perfect for the load areas of trailers.
The average thickness of the lining is 3-5mm thick, however light industrial (5-10mm) and heavy duty (10mm upwards) options are available.
Other applications for rubberising include concrete floor surfaces which are used in factories, restaurants, bars, warehouses, workshops, walkways and shopping centres. |
Applications in the construction industry include protection for steel support beams, gutters, & chutes, damp proofing of foundations and water proofing of roofs/exposed areas.
Mining applications include the coating of conveyors, agitation tanks, hoppers, separation trays and settling tanks.
The applications for rubberising are endless, so for additional information on this versatile and affordable product, contact Rome ‘Round.
